Yates Elementary School

To the School Board and District Administration,

I am writing to formally document my profound concerns regarding the ongoing professional conduct of Ms. Deejean Mendez, a fifth-grade TAG teacher at Yates Elementary School, and the subsequent failure of the school’s administration to address these issues.

It has become evident that the classroom environment under Ms. Mendez’s supervision is detrimental to student well-being. Reports from students and parents consistently describe a pattern of behavior that deviates from standard professional ethics, including:

Intimidation Tactics: Publicly reprimanding students for discussing classroom issues with their families.

Emotional Degradation: Utilizing disparaging remarks to label students’ perceived flaws in front of their peers.

Coercive Grading Practices: Using the school’s minimum grading policy as a tool for intimidation.

Despite these documented concerns and the clear impact on the student body, the school has failed to implement lasting corrective measures. Furthermore, the lack of accountability from the school’s leadership—specifically Principal Ramirez—has created a climate of frustration among staff and parents alike.

Repeated attempts to engage with the Superintendent’s office and formal reporting channels have yielded no response, leaving parents with no choice but to escalate this matter. We are requesting an immediate, transparent investigation into Ms. Mendez’s classroom practices and an administrative review of how these concerns have been handled by the school leadership.

Our primary objective is to secure a learning environment where students are protected from emotional harm and treated with the respect necessary for academic success. I look forward to your prompt response regarding the specific steps the district will take to resolve these issues.
